5 Ways to Practice Active Listening

This week is all about active listening because it’s a skill that can be acquired and developed with practice. So the next time your friend say’s, “How was the date?”, you can say a little bit more than, “He was tall and has nice teeth…”.

So what are the five ways to practice active listening:

  • Pay attention by maintaining eye contact.
  • Don’t interrupt.
  • Try not to judge.
  • Clarify.
  • Paraphrase or summarize what was said.
