Author and Life Coach, Dr. Ira Roach, Inspires Others to Live Their Best Life

We all need some inspiration and motivation in our lives. Sometimes it gets hard to determine which way to go and it seems like at times there is no one to look up to. Some lack the mentorship they need, but thanks to the power of social media, these inspirational and motivational life coaches are just click away.

Dr. Ira Roach is an author, motivational speaker and life coach. He has spoken at countless engagements, has a few books out and overall is helping others to live their best life, as well as tap into their purpose. I recently had the pleasure of interviewing thus man of God where chatted on what inspires him to do what he does. Check out the interview below.

Can you please tell myself and the readers about yourself?

First, thank you for this opportunity. I am the son of Ira D. Roach Jr.; Carolyn, bonus mother; Margaret J. Neal (mother)  and a resident of Georgetown, Delaware, where I was born and raised.  I am the oldest of three children, Katrina, Teresa and Andre.  I am divorced but my ex wife and I raised four kids.  Dion, Sable, Delayne and Kori.  I have a B.A. in Counseling, a Master’s in Christian Counseling and a Doctorate in Christian Education and Pastoral Leadership.

Growing up and still to this day who inspires you? How did they impact your life?

I have many people who inspired me growing up, but the number one “hero” was my dad. My mom was also an inspiration but because I was a male child, I looked at my dads life. I thought he was the most unjust person in the world, but as I got older I understood the influence he had in my life in growing up to be man. The most important characteristic was to be responsible for my own actions. I am often referred to as being “strong” and not giving up. That would be the impact that my dad had on my life.

You’re an entrepreneur adding acting to your portfolio, can you tell us about your role and the show? Do you think you’ll continue to pursue an acting career?

I have been blessed to be a part of “Church Folks Secrets” (churchfolkssecrets.com) nominated for best web comedy series for the Church Stars Awards. (Voting begins in July) This can be found on Youtube and now on RoKu as well. I play the role of “Omari(raaaay), the assistant to the Bishop’s wife. Omari is running back from Atlanta from a failed relationship. He is eccentric and very sassy! I have been acting since I was sixteen and writing plays since I was 23, so being a famous actor was definitely a dream of mine when I was younger but I am having so much fun with this role I am definitely not going to stop now, but include this as a stream of income.

Yes, I am going to continue to pursue projects but probably not on a level of auditioning to be in Hollywood but if someone invites me, I will be on the first plane to LA.

What influenced you to become a pastor and be so involved in church?

I was raised in church as a young boy and it was just routine back then. When I got older, I built my own relationship with God and realized that a relationship with Him healed me and helped me overcome depression and many suicide attempts. I did not want to be a Pastor, as a matter of fact, I fought against it for years, but I realized that it was a platform I could use to help others overcome life’s circumstances and understand that God’s loves was never ending.

You’re also a life coach, how did you get involved in that field? What are your strong points as a coach?

Many years of helping others and listening to them, I have been coaching for years. My assignment as a coach is a “Wayward Winner Expert.” What does that mean? I help “potential winners” get back on the road to success and strive to reach their destiny and become winners. My points as a coach, “Your dream is necessary!” Goal setting is imperative and you must 1. Believe in yourself, 2. Overcome fear, 3. Use your mistakes and failures to build upon and finally 4. Start now!

You also wear a motivational speaker hat too, where did this passion arise? What message do you try to send?

Communication and connecting with people is my greatest gift and inspiring them is an even greater passion. I joined the Les Brown Unlimited Team and I am a Certified Coach, Trainer and Speaker. I want to reach more than just the church folks and my message across the board, “Don’t let other people opinions of you become your reality. – Les Brown. I want to teach many people how to live beyond labels. Ask yourself this question, “Who were you before the world told you who you would be?”

The main reason we’re speaking now is because of your latest project your book, Daddy Knows Best, how was the experience of writing a book?

This is my second book project but it was very different than my first. This is more personal and passionate because of the mission behind this book.

Can you give us a summary or insight to your book?

So many times many fathers have great potential, even those that the media, disgruntled custodial parents and even the prison system has laid claim to as ‘dead beats.” According to research, the number of fatherless African-American children is on the rise. I hope that this book brings awareness to each father that regardless of a man’s shortcomings, failures and bad choices, his presence is still needed in the life of his son. This book has stories of how my dad spent time with me and how it was an impact in my life. It also has a father challenge and conversation starters for a dad and his son.

With so many titles under your belt now, what upcoming events or readings can we look forward to attending?

July marks 14 years of pastoring, along with “Church Folks Secrets” being nominated. I have been nominated as best supporting actor for my role as “Omari” and we will be going to Arizona in September for the awards ceremony, I have partnered with 4thirteen Beauty & Cosmetics by Lillian Gaston and will be introducing an acne bar/razor bump creme by Father’s Day hopefully. I am going to be writing a few Kindle Books in the next several months on Amazon so be on the look out! Be on the look out for a talk show online as well and a possible spin off for Omari!

What advice or words of wisdom can you offer us millennials?

Everything you are and everything you want to be is completely up to you! Les Brown says, “When life knocks you down be sure to land on your back because if you can look up, you can get up!”
