Tis’ the holiday season and during this time of year games are always a fun way to bring the fam together. If you and your loves ones are looking for something new to try out this season, then you’ll love BS The Trivia Game.

I recently interviewed the founder, Kimelia Weathers, where she chatted more about her inspiration behind creating the game.

H.O.R: Hello Guys, this is House of Ramirez and I am here with my sister, Kimelia. We have big announcements going on…she is doing it big! I am very excited to speak with her about what she has going on and to make all of you aware of her product.

Go ahead Kimelia and tell us a little bit about yourself and where you are from.

Kimelia Weathers: I am originally from Jamaica, that is where my family is from and that is where I was born. But I was raised in Washington D.C., so I went to college there and I moved to Los Angeles a little after college and I have been here for almost 14 years now.

H.O.R: I love Los Angeles and any part that you go to, you make friends, and you have family and that is home.

Kimelia Weathers: I just love the weather here and so you always have an excuse to be outside and to explore and that is what I love the most about Los Angeles.

H.O.R: The weather is paradise all around, it’s always sunny.

Kimelia Weathers: For the most part, yeah.

H.O.R: So Kimelia, I would love for you to tell us about this, but I know that you have a trivia game, and it is called, Brilliant or BS. Can you tell us what inspired you to create this trivia game?

Kimelia Weathers: Yes, well I am a big fan of trivia and before Covid-19, my husband and my friends would go to trivia night, we go to bars and different places and play trivia. I have always been a trivia nerd so that is one thing; but I also really like bluffing games. So, anything where you have to try to fool your friends or trick other people…I am not any good at poker but any kind of bluffing games like Fibbage or Balderdash, I really like and so this was my way of combining 2 things, trivia and bluffing.

What is great about the game is that most people will say that I am not that great at trivia and I tell them that you do not have to be, that is not really what it’s about. It is about making people think that you know the answer and so if you can pretend and bluff your way through it then you can still win the game.

H.O.R: It is a little bit of everything for everyone so everybody can tune in and play. Like you mentioned it is all about being able to bluff your way through, convincing people that you know the answers even if you do not.

Kimelia Weathers: Yes, and that is what I wanted to capture with this game, that it is for everybody. So, you do not have to feel like I have to be one of those super smart trivia people in order to play the game all you have to do is talk a good game.

H.O.R: Exactly and that is what it is all about, you have to be quick on your feet. Tell me, how does it feel to have a great, awesome, and hilariously fun trivia game that our families and communities are using to spend time with each other, laughing and having a good time just enjoying each other’s company?

Kimelia Weathers: That feels amazing! Honestly, that was the whole intention behind it. I have always loved game nights, playing games with my family and friends growing up and so the fact that people are getting together, and they are creating memories and laughing, having a good time, that is the best reward for me; knowing that I came up with something that people are having a good time playing and that it is bringing people together, and it is sparking conversation.

You get to get away from your computer and the television and your phones and just play a traditional card game, so it is great.

H.O.R: It is a beautiful thing, so I just want to encourage you to keep on doing what you are doing. As you have mentioned, this is a great way to bring people together and right now that is what we need, in a world that is steadily focused on dividing us all. Thank you for that, that is awesome.

So, you sold out in August, are we able to buy our families and ourselves a trivia game now? We are looking at the end of November…are we able to go ahead and purchase the game?

Kimelia Weathers: Yes, we are fully restocked on our website which is www.brilliantorbs.com and it is also available on Amazon. There are a couple of other retailers that we have partnered up with that are on-line such as, Uncommon goods and also Knack shops, which is a gifting service where you can create your own gift boxes to send to people. We were excited to sell out in August, but we are now fully stocked just in time for the holidays.

H.O.R: That is great to hear because you being featured in Pop Insider that is big! So, I am very thankful and excited that you were able to take some time to sit down with me, to let us all know about this hilarious and amazing trivia game that you have created so that we all can come together and enjoy each other’s company.

House of Ramirez is big on shout outs, are there any shout outs that you would like to give right now?

Kimelia Weathers: Yes, I want to shout out all of the other Black game creators out there. I have been lucky enough to get into this community and it is because of people like, Black Card Revoked, Cards For All People, Trap Wars and Rhyme Antics. It is because of them that I even thought that I could make my own game. So, hopefully this is encouraging people out there that if you have an idea and you are passionate about it, just go ahead and do it.

H.O.R: I love it and that is what it is all about. It is 2020 and we have to support one another to come together as a collective and just encourage one another and support one another, thank you for that.
