Awakened Convos: Tiarah Williams Chats on Little Miss North America 2020 Title

Tiarah Makenzie Williams is Little Miss North America 2020. Tiarah was born in Washington, DC. to Tara Walker and Thomas Williams. She attends middle school in the District of Columbia where she is an Honor Roll student. Tiarah is a dancer on a competitive dance team and she is a toy reviewer.

She has been seen on ABC “Let’s Talk Live” News as a toy expert. In her spare time, she enjoys making jewelry, creating slime and solving math problems. Tiarah plans to become a lawyer in the future and she also has her eyes set on being Miss America one day.

I recently had the pleasure of interviewing Miss Williams where she chatted more on her endeavors and title.

Lior: Can you tell the viewers/readers and myself a little bit about yourself, and what it is that you do?

Tiarah: Hi, my name is Tiarah Williams, and I am Little Miss North America 2020. I love to do pageants, dance, be creative, and I love to do acting.

Lior: Nice, so tell me a little more about your acting, we will get to your pageants in just a bit. What made you want to act?

Tiarah: Everyone in my family used to say that I have really funny impressions of people, and so I started to hear myself and I liked it because I was acting funny, sad, and sometimes I would even prank them, and it was fun. So, I asked my mom if she could put me into acting, and I really like it because it is really fun.

Lior: That is so awesome! What made you become interested in doing pageants?

Tiarah: When I was little, I loved putting on dresses, and walking, so then my mom decided to put me into a pageant and it was fun, and I liked it because I was crowned, and I also got to meet new people.

Lior: Have you made any really close friends since you have been doing the pageants?

Tiarah: Yes, when I won my first title, Little Miss District of Columbia 2017, I made a new friend when I re-crowned her, her name is Dorian, and she is one of my new best friends now.

Lior: I love it! Tell me, how many years have you been doing pageants because you just mentioned 2017, and that was a while ago?

Tiarah: I have been doing pageants for 5 years.

Lior: How old are you?

Tiarah: I am 11-years-old.

Lior: OMG, that is awesome! Can you tell me who are some of your inspirations are, and why?

Tiarah: One of my inspirations is my mom because she helps me, and I see her working hard every day.

Lior: I was thinking that your mom must have a busy schedule because she has you involved in all of these pageants, does she work too?

Tiarah: Yes.

Lior: Yes, so I am sure that it is a lot of work. So, how did you feel when you won Little Miss North America, and what was going on in your mind?

Tiarah: When I heard that I had won, I was jumping up and down screaming, and in my mind, I was thinking that this is going to be a good opportunity, and I am going to be able to meet more people and have a good time.

Lior: I am so glad that you felt that way. What would you say is your favorite part of the process of getting ready for the pageants?

Tiarah: One of my favorite processes, is when you are about to get crowned, and your name is called, that is the most exciting part because it gives you that suspense inside, and it is really exciting.

Lior: Absolutely, I can understand that. What is something that you have learned just from being a part of the pageants, and winning Little Miss North America?

Tiarah: I learned that you can make new friends, have better opportunities, and also learn more about yourself and have fun.

Lior: I notice that you also do different forms of dance and it seems like your schedule would be pretty full, can you tell us what a normal day looks like?

Tiarah: I would say that a normal day looks like, waking up, showering, going to school from 8- 3:30 p.m., and then I do my homework, read some books. I then get ready for dance, and after dance, I come back home, work on my acting, brush my teeth and then get ready for bed.

Lior: That is a lot! So have the pageants or any of your dance practices gotten in the way of your school schedule?

Tiarah: No.

Lior: It’s later in the day?

Tiarah: Yes.

Lior: That is really good. What do you aspire to be when you get older?

Tiarah: I aspire to be the next Miss America, and a tap dancer.

Lior: Wow, why tap dance, why do you love that?

Tiarah: The reason why I love tap dance is because I have been tapping since I was 3-years-old, and that is when I fell in love with it because I kept getting better and better, so I would do it every time I had the chance.

Lior: That so young, 3-years-old? OMG your schedule is busier than mine and I am 24…okay. That is very inspiring! So, which one do you feel like you love more, would you say dance, or acting?

Tiarah: I would say that I love dance more because I bring out a different emotion when I am dancing, and I make new friends and I have fun with the emotion, and the song.

Lior: I saw on your Instagram page that you just posted a video, and it was a dance video, I am not sure if it was a practice, or if you were actually doing a pageant, but it was beautiful and I was wondering, how do you pick your songs?

Tiarah: The way that I would pick my songs is, first I would listen to a couple of my favorite songs, and when I was going down the list, I would find the perfect song because I was listening to it, and then I started flowing with it, so then I asked my mom if she would help me pick the song, and make the remix, and to also find me a choreographer.

Lior: Very nice. So, your mom is a really big part of the process, is that right?

Tiarah: Yeah, and my dad.

Lior: What does your dad do, how does he help you?

Tiarah: How he helps me, is that he will come and see me before I have to go on stage, or do something, and he will give me some words of encouragement, and a hug, and it will be really fun.

Lior: Yasss, I love that so much, that is so sweet! What do you feel it would take for another little girl to win Little Miss North America?

Tiarah: They have to be confident, and have the right personality, they have to fun, do not be shy, and remain focused on your family and friends.

Lior: So, when you did your first pageant, were you nervous?

Tiarah: At first, I was a little nervous, but then I started to do a secret handshake that my dad and I use to do, so it helped me get through it.

Lior: So, please tell me what do you see for yourself in the future, and your brand, I know that you said that you wanted to win another title. So, tell me what do you see for yourself moving forward?

Tiarah: Moving forward, I see myself becoming Miss America, becoming a dance teacher, and also being creative.

Lior: I like that…I like that a lot! So, is that why you focus so much on dance now because you would like to be a dance teacher later?

Tiarah: Yes.

Lior: You are so sweet. Do you have any upcoming events that we should be aware of?

Tiarah: (At the time that this interview was conducted, Tiarah had an upcoming recital, and mentioned that she would post the video on her page).
