Beyonce Encourages Us to be Proud of our Black Heritage with Super Bowl Performance
From the Civil Rights Movement to the Black Panthers and to the current Black Lives Matter Movement, our Black race has been on a non-stop race to become heard and to bring more unity within our race. However, we know that the most powerful source is entertainment.
When a music mogul makes any statement, people are more bound to pay attention. This is why Beyonce’s Super Bowl performance was so powerful! One of my friend’s and colleagues recently posted on his Facebook wall with a statement that I couldn’t agree more with. It hits home!
Beyonce’s latest single, “Formation,” is filled with strong, thought-provoking lyrics that make you think. The lyrics empower you to want more and work harder to reach your goals. The opening lyrics of the song are the most powerful in my opinion because she clears up the whole Illuminati thing—and states that she has gotten to where she is because of hardwork, which is true. For those of us that rocked with Destiny’s Child since the early 90s (that original D.C. with Latoya Luckett and LaTevia Roberson) we remember how Tina Knowles would have them practicing their dance moves in heels at 14-15 years old. Since then we have seen Beyonce grow and transform, and as you grow and change to become a better person in life there are always going to be the ones that have not bettered themselves, never have, and never will who bring the rain to everyone else’s parade (in Beyonce’s current state, it’s FOX News). Anyways, below are the lyrics that are just that HIT in the face:

Not to mention, Bey still knows where she comes from. She mentions her roots which has taken part of the woman that she is today. Another powerful lyric in the song is that she empower women. She lets women know that if they work hard and grind it out, then they can have anything they want. It’s all about entrepreneurship these days. To live a happy life, to become financially independent, and to MAKE YOUR OWN DAMN RULES, you have to be a Boss Babe, and it’s attainable with hard work! So continue to grind it out ladies! Your turn is coming.
