Blood Stained Banner
THEY want US to pledge allegiance to the “Blood Stained Banner”, while they continue to cut us down in any manner! They’re concerned that’s it’s the flag WE disrespect, but they “feel threatened” and pump bullets in our chest!
THEY say all WE need to do is comply, but c’mon, you know that’s a lie! There isn’t a day that goes by where my brothers esteem doesn’t die…believing the lie, cuz he was told to comply…let’s see what else he can try?
Parents used to talk to their kids about the birds and the bees but NOW, they have to talk about gettin’ on your knees, cuz brutha please, do what you have to, to get home safe, but what do you do with guns pointed in your face? These lives being taken, cannot be replaced! Dreams die with the body, the mind silenced forever….for now, THEY have BODY CAMS, boy that’s clever!
Tell me that ONLY people with disabilities park in handicap spots, White men would NOT, have been surrounded by cops; itchin’ to take the first shot! Should’ve ordered a hazelnut latte with whipped cream, didn’t know how two Black men sitting at a table would seem, wouldn’t dream…NOW of asking to use the restroom without placing an order, awe, here come the “trusted” cops, to restore law and order.
Get plenty of rest while you can, don’t you DARE fall asleep in the common area man! You’re not supposed to be here or anywhere else, being a black student at YALE, might be bad for your health!
What a nice day for a barbecue, brotha look at you and your charcoal grill, did you know that you could be almost killed, cuz some lady who got mad, you didn’t offer her a rib, got on her phone and called five-0, ya dig?
Police brutality, is everyday reality for all those who look like me! The rules of the game change when it’s convenient, with school shooters, they’re more lenient, they “negotiate” THEM into custody, but WE can’t protest…SILENTLY?
Just remember that the banner is blood stained, it’s a symbol of all the pain, that people like me and you sustain, while being black in this country that YOU all brought us to, taken from OUR home….what else will you do?
