Celebrating love 365 days of the year

It is the fourth week into the New Year, and Super Bowl is around the corner. And after Super Bowl is that one day that some love and others dread….Valentine’s Day.

It is becoming hard to avoid it now since just about every store has dedicated an aisle or aisles to Valentine’s Day merchandise. While it is a fun day for kids who go all out buying cute, little Valentines Day cards and candy for their classmates, as we get older though, and realize just how much our loved ones mean to us, Valentine’s Day starts to seem a little irrelevant.

Now I’m not knocking those who choose to celebrate it and buy chocolates, flowers and cards for their significant others, mothers, sisters and other loved ones, but why do we need a “special” day to go all out and show someone how much they mean to us?

Love should be shown every day. Plus, its seems like when things are forced, like a “special” day to show your loved ones that you care, in my opinion it just doesn’t seem like it comes from the heart. I’d rather be surprised on a random day of the year by a loved one “just because” rather then receiving flowers or chocolates “just because its Valentines Day.”
