Detroit’s Orchards Children’s Services Helps to Build Families within the Community
The children are our future and as we help to build their futures so that can be successful adults later on in life, the one thing that they need to ensure that their futures will be bright is a home. Orchards Children’s Services in Detroit, Michigan assists in building families through their services.
“The mission of Orchards is building communities and supporting children and families in in-care,” Shaune Marks, Foster Care Recruitment, Training and New Studies Specialist, explains. “[That] consists of foster care, adoption, and guardianship.”
To fulfill that mission, Orchards has a variety of programs and services that they promote and utilize within the community. Some of these programs are Family Preservation and the Gerald Levin Community Programs. Under Family Preservation there are seven programs which include: Families First, Families Together Building Solutions, Wraparound Services, Family Group Decision Making, Family Reintegration, Juvenile Justice Reintegration, and Probate Guardianship.
The Gerald Levin Community Programs include an Arts & Learning program which introduces children to the world of art and culture and helps them to discover their hidden talents while building their self-esteem. Other programs include: Career Connections, Learn-2-Learn, Orchards Summer Adventures, and Adopt-A-Family.
