Election 2020: Know Your Candidate

“The decisions made today effect the world we will live in tomorrow and will ripple through one generation into the next. “This is the age of white minority resistance, a power-shift that will redefine America.”- Roland Martin

We need more representation of us in legislation, to counter laws that directly affect us.

These are our candidates for 2020 presidential race.

  1. Senator Corey booker- Age 50, the first AfricanAmerican U.S senator from New Jersey. He supports affirmative action, women rights, long term deficit reduction, cares to combat global warming. As Mayor of Newark, during his first term saw the doubling of affordable housing and reduction of the city budget deficit from $180 Million to $73
  2. Wayne Messam- age 45 his city’s first black mayor, his campaign platform stands on gun regulation, immigration and environmental issues. He proposes canceling more than 1.5 trillion dollars in student loan debt owed by 44 million Americans
  3. Senator Kamala Harris- age 55, Jamaican IndianAmerican lawyer and politician, serving as U.S. states senator of California. Shestands firm for tougher legislation on gun violence, the legalization of recreational marijuana, lower tax cuts on the middle class, a universal healthcare system based on existing Medicare.

There are many democrats running for the position of president, and only two republicans Donald Trump our current and William F. Weld 73-year-old who favors fiscal restraint, free trade and legalization of marijuana and moderate immigration. We as a people should know what’s going on in the world around us, politically speaking and otherwise and actively be a part of the process. Stricter gun control, affirmative action, global warming, health care, marijuana legalization, taxes, student loan debt , the national debt, civil rights and more affect us all, if you don’t let your voice be heard and support the voices of those who speak on your behalf, you have no right to complain about the problem.
