End of the Alpha Male?
You know “that guy” that everyone talks about. He has women flocking to him, hanging on to his every word, anticipating his every move. Guys want to be him, and women want to be with him. Men are secretly pondering how he does it and want to know his secret, because “that guy” has no sense of style, is going bald, has bad skin, and little to no money- yet women are all over him. For men, it can be very frustrating seeing another man who isn’t on their level, have women at his very whim. “That guy” displays an unshakable confidence from the inside out. He believes that he has a lot to offer women, yet he doesn’t have to play the game, they just come to him. There are so secrets or tricks that he plays in order to get women, because all he did was be himself. “That guy” is a true alpha male! He is living proof that any man regardless of how he looks or how much he makes can still be magnetic to women if he has the skills.
When you ask both men and women what they find most attractive in a mate, confidence ranks high on the list. Most women will agree that there is nothing sexier than a confident man who knows who he is. Alpha males are not boastful, because they don’t feel the need to impress people and show off their success. They assume people will like them for who they are and not what they own or have accomplished. They do not seek validation nor do they care if others do not agree with his point of. Now let’s take a look at the beta male. Alpha males are seen as confident, in control, and self-assured. Beta males are the opposite of alpha males because they posses traits classified as weak, submissive, and inferior. A man could have a good paying job, great looks, is physically fit, and have a smile that will make a woman melt.
However, he is also very insecure, mentally and emotionally inferior, and lacks confidence in some areas of his life. Therefore, while he may attract women with his looks and material possessions, he can’t seem to keep them.
Guys walking with their heads low, hands in their pockets, and slumped shoulders gives off an inferior vibe, and clearly displays beta male characteristics. Men who show such traits are often taken advantage of, or completely ignored. They are very nervous and fidgety when around the opposite sex, or they display caveman- like behavior to try and get a woman’s attention.
Alyssa Graham totally disagrees with the “end of the alpha male” title, for she feels there are plenty of strong and self-assured men still out for the picking. I have had the pleasure of knowing some strong men that absolutely exemplify the definition of an alpha male! When they step into a room, they command attention…not because they are putting on a show, but because they take pride in themselves and they exude confidence!”
To sum everything up, an alpha male does not follow behind other people, for he flows at his own pace and isn’t easily influenced. Alpha males display an air of quiet assurance that draws people to him like flies, whereas the beta males have to vie for people’s attention and may even resort to childish behavior if he doesn’t get his way. Hopefully, the young men today can look up to other alpha males as role models, so they too can become “that guy.”
