Glitz, Fun, Flirty, and business open up the Style Fashion Week LA runway

Fashion Week has been in full effect across the Globe for the past few weeks, and on Thursday, October 13, 2016 the runway shows for Style Week Los Angeles kicked off. This season’s show showcased the Spring/Summer 2017 lines from top designers in the fashion industry. Some of the themes that were shown on the opening night ranged from edgy, flirty, glitzy, and formal. I must say that the styles were definitely diverse and were perfect to open up the weekend of shows to come, and there was also two Black designers that were featured.

This year Style Fashion Week LA had a new home. The show took place at the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood outdoors in the center’s fountain/garden area. It is a step up from the previous year’s of it being held at The Reef in Downtown Los Angeles and is a bigger space.

Doors for the acclaimed event opened up at 5 p.m. with a cocktail and social hour followed by the show, which started at 8:45 p.m. and concluded at 11 p.m. This year there was no opening performance, but the first designer, Julia Clancey, did a marvelous job of being the first one to showcase and also gave us a little theatrical debut mixed with her designs. Her piece opened up with royal and glitz theme where the models wore long robes and gowns that would remind you of Egyptian Queens. From there she went into a more flirty and fun theme of roller skates and colorful, playful wear followed by formal wear. Check out some of her designs below:

Up next was A’QUA Swimwear which showcased simple, yet sexy and classy bikinis, one-pieces, and cover ups that are perfect for the beach or that upcoming Caribbean vacation. A’QUA Swimwear was launched by Southern California resident Adrienne Fuqua. She has best known for sewing scintillating sexy styles with a curiously timeless appeal. Check out her designs below:

After the first two designers there was a 15-30 minute intermission break before the last three designers were showcased. In the last three, there was two Black designers, K. Rashae and Shanna Gall there was also a designer that catered to the fellas, Moods of Norway. K. Rashaé opened the second half of the show with an edgy and sporty women’s line. K. RaShaé is a luxury women’s wear fashion brand that represents confidence and beauty. Founded in New York by Kalisha Hall, K. RaShaé works to celebrate women and their uniqueness while promoting self-love and self-expression through purpose driven designs. The purpose of the line is to assist women revel their true purpose and worth that already lies within them. These positive values shine through in the brand’s mantra, Fearfully and Wonderfully Made™, which encourages women to embrace their individuality. Check out the line below:

Following K. Rashae was Norwegian line Moods of Norway which featured mostly men’s apparel, but some women’s apparel. The line is more preppy, yet business casual. Moods of Norway was launched over 10 years ago by Los Angeles designers Simen Staalnacke and Peder Børresen, after years of global travels, international studies and nights of sizzling cocktails. They created the line with the simply concept of making happy clothes for happy people around the world by blending their Norwegian heritage with international lifestyle in a contrast-filled and fun universe. Check out their line below:

Shanna Gall closed out the show with her formal wear. Shanna Gall Fashions has been a trademarked high fashion couture brand since 2005. The brand empowers the chameleonic fashionista in every woman.
