Godz Chyld thinks outside the box

There are thousands of people who wish to be in the music industry or want to rap or sing, but only a small portion of those will actually be willing to hustle hard to get to that level of success that they wish to get to and are passionate about their craft. Those that are hustling and are passionate are the ones that reach out to a broader audience whether it be via street promotion or social media promotion. New York artist Godz Chyld is one of those who is out there making a name for himself and making sure that his music gets out there in the hands of different people. In an exclusive interview, Godz Chyld talks about makes him different and the plans that he has to further his music career.

How did you get into music?

I started listening to Hip Hop in middle school and I just figured I’d try to rap and when I did people liked it so that made me want to continue and get better. Then I hooked up with some other dudes who were into it like me in high school and we’d record and write songs together and that’s how I got into recording music and started perfecting my style.

Do you do music full time or do you also have a day job?

I have a day job because of course I need an income, but music is the reason for that day job. It funds pretty much everything I put out and the goal of my day job is to help me reach my dream job.

In your opinion, what is one thing that makes your music unique?

I’m a unique person period. I don’t think like most people and I’m into different things. My thoughts are my own. Most people live their lives trying to impress other people and I used to do that also, but I literally live my life in an independent way. I know who I am and I do what. I think its is cool and I have my own opinions which is something people are afraid to do, so my music is an honest expression from someone with his own perspective which is automatically different because everyone else is pressured into fitting in with the group. I don’t care about the group; I’m free

Are you currently working on any projects?

Yes I am. I don’t have the title for it yet, but I’ve recorded 2 amazing songs for it so far and it already sounds better than all my other stuff, but mostly I’m working on promoting my last 3 projects I’ve put out. Everything I’ve released is professional quality and theres a lot of music for people to get an idea of who I am, but I love music so much I can’t stop making it.

Who would you love to collab with?

I would love to collaborate with Joey Bada$$ I love his style of music. I’d love to collaborate with Logic because I knew him in HS I lived in Maryland for a little while. My favorite artists are Big Sean, Kanye West, Lil Wayne… dudes like that, but I really feel like I gotta make my own way before I can even mention that many names.

Do you have any shows coming up?

I’ve started doing more performances recently, mostly local shows so if you’re in the city you might catch me.

What do you love most about creating music?

It’s fun for me. I’m in control when I’m recording. I don’t have a supervisor or a boss. I make the kind of music I wanna make and that makes the creative process new every time and fun, I love coming up with new flows and different ways of saying things.

What have you accomplished within your music so far? What would you like to accomplish?

I’ve accomplished working with producers who I respect and having them respect my music that’s made me feel like I’m doing the right thing. I’d like to be in everybody’s sight meaning get the exposure bigger artists get so I can share my music with a wider audience, that’s what I’d like to accomplish.

Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?

I see myself doing interviews on big radio stations, doing shows, having people love my music, and being noticed for not just being a great artist but for being a great person and inspiration to other people who are in the spot I’m in now. I’m not a mundane person so I won’t allow myself to be in a normal spot my whole life and I know I’m meant for more.

If you weren’t doing music, what else would you love to do?

Honestly its music or nothing for me, I’ve loved this since I was young and this is all it is.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not working?

Listening to music and hanging out with my girl, that’s it.
