How to Love Effectively
The one thing that most desire and long for in their lives is love. There are those who are still in a quest to find the one for them, those who are dating the one who may just that “one” and then there are those who have already found their one true love. All though these are all different situations the following steps are steps that anyone can follow.
If you’re in the quest to find that special someone, then these steps can help you know what you should be looking for while on your journey. If you are in a serious relationship and your significant other could be “the one” these steps can help your relationship grow stronger so that eventually there will be wedding bells in the future or near future depending on how serious the relationship is. And finally if you’re already married to that special someone these steps can help your marriage grow stronger. Marriage is a beautiful thing, but has its ups and downs, but as a team and with these ten steps, you’re marriage will remain strong.
1. Listen without interrupting. (Proverbs 18). We all know how it feels to be ignored or interrupted as if what we have to say isn’t important Show your partner that you value what they have to say and then offer your opinion or words that can help the situation AFTER he or she is done speaking.
2. Speak without accusing. (James 1:19). It’s not fair to you nor your partner to accuse him or her of something that they didn’t do or weren’t aware of. For example, say you had to make a big speech or were getting a big award, but your boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife tried to do everything in your their will to make it, but things happen. Don’t accuse him or her of not caring about you. If they could’ve been there they would have.
3. Give without sparing. (Proverbs 21:26). The Bible say’s it is better to give than to receive, also the more we give the more we are blessed. However, we should be more than willing to give to our partner without always wanting something in return.
4. Pray without ceasing. (Col 1:9). Never stop praying together and for each other.
5. Answer without arguing. (Proverbs 17:1). When has fighting ever solved anything? Never. Disagreements are bound to happen, but calmly come to a resolution and compromise if needed.
*6. Enjoy without complaint. (Philippians 2:14). Appreciate the simple things.
*7. Forgive without punishing. (Col 3:13). Forgive and move on. Don’t hold any grudges.
8. Trust without wavering. (Cor 13:7).
*9. Promise without forgetting. (Proverbs 13:12). Keep your word.
*= these are the things that the majority of us tend to need to work on.
