Just Curious
Moca
I read your column all the time and by the way you have good insight. Some of the things you talk about I agree with and then there are other times when I disagree. I have noticed that you try and talk about a range of topics but a lot of your columns are dealing with relationships in some form or fashion. So, my question, are you in a relationship? If so, how’s it working out? If not, why would anyone in a relationship listen to what you have to say about a relationship.

Humph!! So, ‘Just Curious’ you’re just going to build me up to tear me down…just kidding. Let me start by answering the most important question…No, I’m not in a relationship. It’s funny that I opened your email first because I ALWAYS tell my friends that I don’t want to be labeled ‘the single friend that always has something to say about their relationships.’ What’s funnier is they are ALWAYS asking for my opinion. Ok, maybe sometimes I just volunteer my opinion. :~) The fact is I have been in relationships and I’ve observed relationships. So, while some may not agree with my opinion and others do, I’m entitled to it. I embrace others outlook and I’m ok with agreeing to disagree. Everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion.
Whenever I speak about relationships or anything I try to see the situation from all sides. The responses I write in this column either come from personal experiences or lessons I learned from others. You see my mom told me a long time ago that there are some things in life that you don’t have to go through if you just listen and pay attention. For example, I don’t have to be involved in an abusive relationship to know how it can literally break you down so low that it feels like a never-ending hole when you start to climb your way out of it. Because, unfortunately I’ve seen my share of these types of relationships and one of the things these women have in common is the struggle to overcome. Life is designed for you to learn lessons but no one said you have to experience everything to learn those lessons. Sometimes if you just observe you can learn from others.
I don’t expect people to take what I say as gospel. I know I’m NOT always right, even though I joke with my friends about being right. :~) I have flaws as well, which is probably one of many reasons I’m single. I try very hard to have balance in my life. While it is well known that I am constantly moving and dedicated to excelling in my purpose, I never intended my desire for success to overshadow my desire to be in a committed relationship. And believe it or not, writing this column has opened my eyes to some issues that I have and should deal with before Mr. Right For Me will ever present himself. If I’m able to open someone’s eyes then I am fulfilling my purpose and “Living Out Loud” with Moca is accomplishing what I set out for it to do.
