Justice or Just Us?

Time and time again, we lose a brother/sister and a friend…the wounds are deepened with every hateful occurrence too hard to comprehend.

Peaceful protests, anger manifests itself into looting, we just want to live our lives without implicit bias constantly intruding.

Seems there’s always an excuse for the excessive force that’s in use, when confronted by ill will and racial abuse.

De-humanizing US but it’s you that’s not human, justifying the hate when brutality’s brewing.

How the hell do you mistake a gun for a taser, I guess a knife can be mistaken for a laser, do anything, say anything when we face the barrel of your Glock, or feel the pressure under the weight of your knee, I thought you were here to protect and serve, oh well…silly me.

Justice for US is always JUST US denied, said you feared for your life, you know damn well that’s a lie!

You seem to find your courage and bravery whenever there’s a mass shooter, but you’ll send the national guard to neutralize a Black looter.

Air fresheners and expired registration, took the life of another Black man without any hesitation. Taser, taser…the explanation is even crazier, didn’t spend one night in jail, cuz bail was quickly raised for her.

Carbon monoxide killed George Floyd?…now I know there’s a void between your denials and the straight up facts, he was killed while in the prone position, with your knee in his neck and in his back.

How much more do ya’ll think we’re supposed to take, blood lost, hearts broken and your apologies are fake. Seeking justice from a system that works just fine, at least for those who skin tone isn’t anything like mine.
