“Legends of Summer” Tour

One of the biggest highlights and entertainment spectacles of any summer is the high-profile tours that take place nationwide featuring some of the biggest names in music. However, this summer all tours paled in comparison to the epic stadium extravaganza that was the “Legends of Summer” tour bringing together icons Jay Z and Justin Timberlake for 3 months of the biggest shows in recent memory.

With Justin Timberlake releasing his album “The 20/20 Experience” earlier this year to the time of 1 million albums sold in its first week of release and Jay Z releasing his album “Magna Carta Holy Grail” this summer with sales of 1.4 million in its first week of release, the concept of the megastars hitting the road together was a concert promotion company’s dream come true. Concert giant Live Nation capitalized on the demand for the artists with ticket prices for their sold-out Rose Bowl Stadium performance ranging from $150 to $5000.

Despite complaints from fans and fellow artists alike about the huge inflation in ticket prices, the “Legends of Summer” tour played to sold out crowds numbering in the tens of thousands across America with the tour recently ending its run in Miami, Florida. The tour’s last show was a star-studded event with stars like Teyana Taylor, Justin Bieber, and Beyoncé in attendance with LeBron James making his way to the show by police caravan. To commemorate the magnitude of two stars like Jay Z and Justin Timberlake coming together to bring music to the world Jordan Brand released exclusive all red pairs of the classic Air Jordan 1, 2, and 3 shoes as the “Legends of Summer Pack” with a reported retail price tag.

After such a successful tour run Jay Z will now focus on his next album with megastar Kanye West entitled “Watch the Throne 2” while Justin Timberlake is set to release a sequel to his album “The 20/20 Experience” with a tentative release date set for November.
