Millennial Film Producer, Chris Kelsey, Makes Strives From Atlanta to Hollywood
Find a way or make one.
That is the Clark Atlanta University (CAU) motto and mantra that current students and alumni hold to true their hearts as they on to pursue their career endeavors. Millennial film producer, Chris Kelsey is no exception to that group. Following that motto has assisted him in accomplishing his many career accomplishments and he isn’t done yet! The CAU alum was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee but made Atlanta his new home while studying at the university where he received his Bachelors Degree in Film Production.
While in Atlanta, he was named CEO for his leadership abilities in the film industry. This millennial Producer has served as an Accountant on a number of notable productions for studios including Paramount Pictures, Warner Brothers, 20thCentury Fox, Lionsgate, Tyler Perry Studios, truTV, Adult Swim/Cartoon Network, BET, MTV and FX Networks’ two-time Golden Globe winning TV Comedy series “ATLANTA”.
Kelsey recently produced an independent film entitled, Dirty South House Arrest, which debuted at Regal Cinemas-Atlantic Station in Atlanta, Georgia on January 15. The star-studded red carpet event featured talent from Love & Hip Hip Atlanta, Real Housewives of Atlanta, Hollywood Exes, Radio-One Atlanta, and a plethora of notable actors. After that successful premiere, the film recently debuted in the Hollywood Black Film Festival last night.
“I am looking forward to see how the millennials on the West Coast react to the film,” Kelsey stated when asked what his expectations were for the Hollywood film screening.
Dirty South House Arrest is a comedy written by Daphne Pittman-Hayes and stars original Destiny’s Child member LaTavia Roberson, Rodney Perry, DC Young Fly, Emmanuel Hudson, Diva Taylor, Comedian Pierre, and several others.
The film tackles real life issues in a humorous way that will leave you wanting more.
“The characters of Dirty South House Arrest live a life that many face today,” says Director Pittman-Hayes, “We make silly, snap decisions that can change our entire life.”
I had the chance to catch up with Chris where he chatted on hi plans for Dirty South House Arrest, his other business ventures, and his advice to other rising millennial filmmakers.
