Poetry Corner: Another Country
Never forgetting from who we came a long distance,
Our shade a little different,
But still skin of my skin.
As time passes nothing changes,
They still rip us limb from limb,
They show us no mercy ’cause of our melanin birthed into sin.
You’re prejudice say we have no character,
Based upon my features passed down from blood of my blood, kin of kin.
My rendition of James Baldwin.
Like him I wish “Another Country” we were in.
