Poetry Corner: California Pride

After the government took MalcolmX and the Black Panthers,

We were left a vulnerable community.

We started local groups to protect and serve our neighborhood,

From police an honorable resistance.

Maybe it all backfired from then until now,

It was supposed to keep violence out,

But instead it now starts from with in.

We lost sight of the prize and why we all started to follow in their steps of progress.

On the Westside respect and flag,

On my left side blue hearts beat community resistance in progress!
