Poetry Corner: Camden
A once great man saw a city invincible
I know the opposite so Ima speak my truth
They control the streets drug dealing & gang banging
They took our families and jobs left us on the stoop with enough rope to see us hanging
Everyone screams we’re free but you’re a slave just slowly digging carefully plotting your own grave
See where I’m from if you’re not killed in the streets you’ll see lockup hearing them bars clanging
As present residents all we know is corrupt politicians & propaganda that move around us like a phantom
Long after Walt Whitman I see a city known to be despicable
Crunch the numbers look at the city theirs your proof
