Poetry Corner: Deep Cover
Don’t be bashful we know what you think and how you really feel but you give us a little money and the illusion of freedom and we’re suppose to be happy, you allow my people to protest but when we start unifying to protect our communities and build up economically we instantly have a problem.
Where should I start with Nat Turner, Harriet Tubman, or Frederick Douglas times were so different but yet the same we just traded in whips & chains for Bill’s, debt, privatized prisons, and police murders I hope you’re listening because we’ve lost time we can’t get back.
We’ll bridge the gap and call this the middle because we know it’s not the end it’s history to long to call a fad or trend, continuing to snatch hope Medgar, Martin, Malcolm, Tupac, and Nipsey you could never kill the heart of the rebellion/movement but we’re hobbled.
You like to eliminate any organized rebellion that opposes this unjust system but isn’t that what helped to free this land from Britain and then was built on our backs but your biggest underestimation was believing intelligence and not economics is what we lack.
