Poetry Corner: Hiatus
You don’t have to like me and,
I don’t care if you respect me because I know who I am.
Where my ancestors are the majority and the place I was born are two different,
Not one in the same,
A whole different body of land.
I’m labeled many even hundreds of names,
Never the most important like king or proud strong black man.
We can remember back when times were different,
Thoughts that were minor,
Now becoming major,
The more we’re awaken old friends now become strangers.
