Poetry Corner: New Ownership (D.A.D.)
What’s a dad?
Must be some shit I never had
Sometimes you create your own roadmap
Refuse to set mine up for the same trap
Step up or Step aside
Fatherhood- The inaugural Step to Black pride
So much more than just babydaddy
Best realize I da Pappy
Fewer things make me as happy
The eyes and the hair is mine
Even on days it’s nappy
DEFINITION. ADDED. DAILY.
This way the Child’s Self Confidence is never a maybe
Here to set them up for Success
No matter the cost of me
Here to Guide them
Till they can develop their own Philosophy
Nothing tops a true father
Most single mothers falled
Tho they tried harder
If you Skeet you meet invited a Child
Now he has to compete?
Life is hard enough
She’s Pregnant
Life just called your bluff
If he’s the dog
You had to be his bitch
I Pray this generation put the labels in and pull the black family uut the ditch
If we don’t train Young Mental soldiers
How will they respond to war?
If we don’t see over the horizon
How will they comprehend what’s in store?
