Poetry Corner: The Alternate Life
Last night I closed my eyes and contemplated suicide.
God spoke to me before the fall, guided me into the vision he saw.
I observed all I could be if I just held on, lived and breathed.
The tears would turn into smiles, the stresses into blessings.
The poverty into prosperity, my pain into purpose.
I turned to see the grief of the loved ones left behind if I decided to commit this fatal crime and leave them for an eternity.
I saw the lives I could have changed for the better, had I lived out mine.
I was implored to carry on, so I opened up my eyes to see another day.
Life is meant to be lived, not thrown to the side and are carelessly tossed away.
