Poetry Corner: The Cracked Egg
When most people purchase eggs,
They open the carton and if it’s cracked,
They close it and place it back.
No one wants a cracked egg.
Mental illness is viewed like that.
Put aside and disregarded.
How dose the egg become cracked you ask?
Being mishandled, shifts or drops.
Like a young mind, an innocent soul tainted and tossed.
People cannot be replaced that way,
We are all one of a kind.
Unlike the egg our cracks can be repaired,
What we contain can still be useful.
We can heal, rebuild and rewire our mind.
We can still be used for the greater good of all mankind.
Don’t disregard the cracked person and push them back.
One person’s pain and redemption can start a change reaction,
Saving many lives and filling the lost with hope that they too can be found.
