Raising A Village Foundation Shows Us how to ‘Reach, Teach, and Inspire’ to Better Our Communities

We have all heard the famous Proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child,” but in order for that village to raise that child, the village needs to be in tact. It needs to be in order FIRST so that it can properly guide. This is one of the main purposes of why Clark Atlanta University alumna, Jaleesa Hall, started Raising A Village Foundation.

“Raising A Village Foundation (RAV) is an independent non-profit organization committed to providing high quality intervention programs and community resources to children, youth, and families in the District of Columbia and the surrounding areas,” Hall explains. “Birthed out of the college initiative, Driven Student Organization, on the campus of Clark Atlanta University, Raising A Village Foundation continues to improve community conditions and effectively help children and families reach their full potential.

RAV has already accomplished quite a few milestones within its inaugural year. They have partnered with several corporations and non-profit organizations to launch their new educational component Driven 2 Succeed, a youth development program for elementary, middle, and high school students that provides support in the areas of academia, social emotional learning, and college and career preparedness. This year, RAV has partnered with Calvary Christian Academy in Washington, D.C. by providing its Driven 2 Succeed Classroom Residency program to forty 6th to 8th graders!

I love organizations that deal with assisting our youth to succeed and I also love supporting my fellow Clark Atlanta University family; hence, I had to interview Jaleesa to learn more about RAV and to find out what the future looks like for the organization.
