Rising R&B girl trio, Rawyals, chats BET x upcoming EP x more
In a world where bad b—–s and ratchets are seeming to reign in music, some sit and ponder and think, “where are the queens at?” Well they are out there and it’s not hard to find them. Meet Asia, Bel and Ariel of the rising girl trio Rawyals.
Hailing from all over the U.S. these queens are here to bring a positive and dynamic message to others that they too can claim their royalty and live up to their best.
“We wanted to be bold yet royal,” Ariel states. “We speak to the queens in women and the kings in men. We don’t sugarcoat anything and we bring you the real.”
And that ladies and gentleman is one of the things that makes them different from the rest.
“I think the ting that separates us from the rest is that we are not really trying to replicate or duplicate anybody else that is out there,” Asia explains. “Obviously we learn from the girl groups that have come before us, but I think the difference is is us…Ariel, Bel, and Asia, and that is what separates us from everybody. We’re not sugarcoating anything.”
She continues, “Really the whole message of the queens that we;re trying to show people is that they can be the best versions of themselves. We’re not perfect, but we are striving to be the best version of our selves and that is what our message is about and we want others to know that they can do the same. Hopefully the music speaks for that.”
Prior to coming together as a group each girl was just working and living on the pre-quest to claiming their thrones in the entertainment industry. Asia was living in Los Angeles as a professional dancer before she fell in love with singing just a few years ago.
“Once I realized that I could be singing on stage and not doing background for anybody and could be singing for myself, I was like oh yeah this is what I’m trying to do, so I started to pursue it and here I am,” she states.
Bel, who is from Washington, was working a normal 9 to 5 answering calls for the past seven years before this opportunity was presented to her, so of course she had to claim it and go after it. Besides, who would pass up on their dream career for a desk job? And lastly, Ariel, who is from New York, was living the struggling artist movement through recording in the studio and doing shows and performances whenever and wherever she could.
Although they are still semi-new as a group, they have already accomplished quite a bit. They recently released their single and video for, “King Me” featuring Fetty Wapwhich can be downloaded here. They were blessed with getting Fetty Wap on the track after filming three videos in Puerto Rico in December 2014. While shooting those videos over there they would constantly play Fetty Wap’s single over and over, and to their surprise when they arrived back home, he joined them on the “King Me” track.
In addition to the single, the ladies are currently working on their EP which will be released at the end of the month. Fans can except upbeat tracks for any mood and occasion. Whether you want to turn up or are feeling confident and not worried about some girl trying to take your man, there’s a track for it all on the upcoming release. Other artists that are featured on it include Fetty Wap, Remy Ma, and Troy Ave.
“We have all kinds of records that explain what women go through and how men take on to it,” Bel explains.
Next up for the girls is the BET Experience, which starts today! BET Weekend is big, especially for new and emerging artist in the industry. So what do the girls have planned?
“Everything!” the girls all chime in [lol]
If you are in Los Angeles this weekend, you can catch Rawyals doing a few acapella acoustic performances for American Airlines and Journeys shoe store.
“I’m from LA so I’m just excited to come home,” Asia states. “It’s going to be a lot of craziness and a lot of events and a lot of press. We will be there to promote and introduce our selves to the industry.”
After the BET Awards, the girls are hoping to start a tour by the end of the summer, so all fingers are crossed on that one. And hopefully by next year the queens will have finished an amazing tour, have an album out, an award or two, and have a few number one hits under their belts.
When the girls are not busy working, they mainly like to relax, soak in the tub, rest their vocals, and just revamp their minds.
“Right now we’re very busy in our careers and making an impression on the world, so we don’t have a lot of free time. We have to pay our dues right now, but the free time will come,” Ariel states.
