Someone Please Call 911

Someone please call 911. I need someone to go help my son, out partying on New Year’s Eve night, riding the train when out broke a fight. He’s pulled off the train and not even questioned but forced to the ground to teach him a lesson. I don’t even think his rights were read, but just like that my boy was dead….Oscar.

Someone please call 911, I think someone is following my son. A trip to the store for a drink and some skittles, what happened next is not a riddle. Tell me what happens when you’re followed in the dark, wearing your hoodie, suspicion is sparked. Don’t bother him, we got it, just leave him alone, but you continue to follow as if law was your own. Accused of break-ins and possibly drugs, walkin round my hood, I’m sure he’s a thug. ‘Don’t follow, we got this’, was said on the phone, next sound that they heard was his dial tone. What happened? Yes, there was a fight but I didn’t know my boy would die that night…..Trayvon.

Someone please call 911, my son’s on the corner, no there’s no gun. He’s getting his hustle selling cigarettes, this would be something he’d soon regret. Put into a chokehold for 19 seconds long, didn’t know, “I can’t breath”, would be his last song……Eric.

Someone please call 911, they say that my son did have a gun. Anonymous call, would tell them all, he threatened to shoot, selling CD’s to boot. Arrived at the scene with taser in hand, trying to subdue another Black man, oh but when that didn’t work, you swore to the end that without thought or regard his life you would end. After you did your very best, my son lay dead with gunshot wounds to his chest….Alton.

Someone please call 911, they gave a description that “fits” my son. Someone is vandalizing cars, breaking glass, do you know that they didn’t even bother to ask who he was or what he was doing, didn’t even make sure it was “him” they’re pursuing. Once again, there was NO GUN, but they shot him 8 times as if he had one. His family was understandably hit hard, realizing their loved one died in his grandma’s backyard……Stephon.

You know what? Forget it, don’t call 911 because they’re not here to protect my son. There will always be a reason or perceived threat that they feel and it seems like there’s no one that will hear our appeal. Taking potential greatness at will as one more of our brothers is killed. To ALL those not named, we will never forget that your greatness to them WAS perceived as a threat!
