Something Feels Wrong? Why You Should Listen to the signs that Your Body Tells You
Your body is your temple, as you may have heard before. You should treat your body right by giving it the necessary things it needs to work it’s best. After all, you only get one body! As you grow, you should become more in tune with the signals that your body gives off when it needs something, or it is reacting to something.
The body is affected by physical, psychological, verbal, emotional, and mental stimuli from our environment. For example, when a person is embarrassed, the skin may flush, palms become sweaty, and the stomach may become upset. That is the body way of saying that it is uncomfortable and overstimulated.
Another example is when a person thinks about someone they like, their heart rate my increase and they feel elated. Of course, every person’s body is different.
Now, there is one common ailment that causes out bodies to respond in different ways. The culprit is dehydration. Dehydration causes a lot of the symptoms that can easily be confused and diagnosed as something more than it really it. Signals of dehydration in the body include:
- Heartburn
- Stomach ache
- Non-infectious recurring or chronic pain
- Low back pain
- Headaches and migraines
- Mental irritation and depression
- Water retention
These are only a few examples of is your body’s way of telling you that you need to include more water in your diet. There are consequences that can be life threatening from the loss of body fluids. Remember, the human body is composed of 25 percent solids and 75 percent water. Brain tissue is said to consist of 85 percent water! You need to drink as much water as you can to stay hydrated, because you lose water when you sweat, urinate, and even when you breathe! If you aren’t feeling up to par, don’t reach for the over the counter medications, because it’s just your body’s many cries for water! Consider it the easiest, cheapest, and safest medicine.
