Swizz Beatz Latest Album, ‘Poison’ Revives That Ol’ Skool, Authentic Hip Hop

Remember back in the day when the fellas would rhyme on the street corner or in the middle of the quad during lunch hour? One by one they would each take turns in doing a cypher giving us that insight to what was going on in their minds and in society. That was what hip hop was about in the 80s and 90s.

Wouldn’t it be nice relive those moments? Swizz Beatz’ latest album, Poison, does just that. It revives that authentic hip hop; that kickin’ it on the corner in Harlem, New York in the middle of a cypher type of hip hop.

Poison is the second album from the producer and rapper, but it is his first album as the lead artist since his 2007 album, One Man Band Man. The album features collaborations with Nas, Lil Wayne, Kendrick Lamar and Young Thug, just to name a few. It is also has a good variation of compilations for the brotha’ in the streets to the brotha’ that stays in the books to the one who is a little bit of both.

The hit single, “Pistol On My Side” featuring lil Wayne is the epitome to the street man’s hustle. It gives the listeners a clear illustration of what life is like for the king pin, hustler, and your average man that is in the streets day in and day out.

Then you have club banger track, “SWIZZMONTANA”, which may remind listeners of the 2007 track, “It’s Me B——“. It’s that track that you can vibe out to in the car, at a kick back at the homie’s house or in the club.

And of course bringing it back to the true definition of hip hop, is “Preach” featuring Jim Jones. While listening to this song, you can’t help but to picture yourself in the middle of a cyper back in the 90s saluting the emcee on.

Poison was released on November 2, 2018 and is available everywhere where music is sold.
