The Children Speak
In the last days, God says, ‘I will pour out my spirit upon all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will see visions and your old men will dream dreams.– Acts 2:17
On Dec 23, 2018, a tsunami hit Indonesia killing 222 without warning, another natural disaster.
On the heels of this tragedy, Greta Thunberg, a 15-year-old Swedish climate activist, bravely and candidly spoke out for herself and future generations that will come from her.
She started with a story she envisioned as an old woman, surrounded by her grandkids, explaining to them why the world is in the devastation it is. Her voice rang worldwide at the TEDxStockholm addressing the COP24 UN climate conference, with poise and conviction she stated,
“If we don’t do anything on the climate now, we’re screwed.”
She has stopped flying, eats no dairy or meat, refused Christmas presents, and started a school strike for what she strongly believes in. Greta was inspired by the 11-year-old Black activist, Naomi Wadler, who also spoke out this March without fear, in spite of disbelief that she was not using her voice, but the voice of others.
She honorably took a stand for the cause, our people and the lives taken by gun violence. Naomi’s voice continues to have a ripple effect worldwide. Our youth are blooming and coming forth displaying their seeds of greatness. We as a people should listen and heed the warnings. Global warming will continue to dramatically and negatively impact our world and the lack of gun control is taking its toll.
