Using the Spirit of Discernment When Dealing with “Spiritual Advisors” or Tarot Readers
Disclaimer: Everything that is about to be stated is that of the writer. Yes, the writer leans on her Faith and trust in God first and foremost; but she knows it is not her right to judge or put others down. But all and all, ALWAYS use your spirit of discernment. God gives everyone it to help guide us. It’s that little gut feeling and instinct.
This article is going to be deep. Deep because I feel that the Black community needs to be aware of certain things before we get too deep and end up losing what God has already called for us. In this new age, more and more on starting to become more spiritual and some may be in between trying to find the right church. Some have even started going to tarot card readers and “psychics”.
I am not in any way trying to say that they are all bad and Ms. Cleos. But listen, just like there are false prophets within the church and other religious realms, there are twice as more phony tarot readers and “spiritual advisors” who just want to get paid or think they have this gift, but do not know how to use it.
When going into this new age spiritual realm, (although it’s not really new because it’s been around since the Biblical age…see verses below), if you are going to dive into it, just please be careful and use your own discernment. Do not take what some of the readers say and run with it. Also use the 80/20 rule. 80 percent being that, 80 percent of what some these advisors will tell you may be false and the other 20 percent being some what accurate.
“Do not turn to mediums or necromancers; do not seek them out, and so make yourselves unclean by them: I am the Lord your God.-Leviticus 19:31
The part where He say’s to not seek these people out, man that is the truth. Everything good in our lives seems to happen when we least except it. For example, my current relationship, definitely was not sought out. Granted, we were friends for awhile and could’ve been together way back when, but the timing of everything is definitely not ours; let me tell you! The timing seems odd, but on the scope of it, it’s like, “Okay, God, you know what you’re doing and on top of that, the spiritual connection that me and my boyfriend have is indescribable. Trust me, no relationship is perfect and our journey is far from perfect, although similar to 75% of other relationships that deal with blended families or on the verge of the blended family life, we have our challenges, but it is normal. Sometimes the enemy will get into your head and use these advisors.
Funny thing is, when a challenge came up, I myself went to an advisor that I wanted to go to for awhile, mainly to support her as a Black owned business, and the energy could not have been any more off. That connection with her just wasn’t there. The questions got jumbled up and were sent back different from how I asked them and I just felt like the scenario wasn’t read through all the way.
However, when I first initially went to her, I went to her with a lot of wrong energy and with the enemy in my head trying to deter me away from my happiness. So of course now days later, when she finally does send the reading back, of course it is not going to resonate with me because other than things being false, but at that time because negative energy was sent to her, she is only strong enough to respond to that current new energy. She didn’t have access to the new energy and normal state of my being because I didn’t come to her in that state of mind, if that makes sense.
And when they say to you, “Inquire of the mediums and the necromancers who chirp and mutter,” should not a people inquire of their God? Should they inquire of the dead on behalf of the living?-Isaiah 8:19
The above verse is everything. In life we are going to go through challenges, it’s life and there’s no way around this. So I would advise if you are frustrated at the moment, then DO NOT go to an advisor or “medium”, especially if you never went to this person and have always had reservations. There is a reason for that.
Why is that someone will trust a medium that speaks to a dead spirit and will put more faith in that over their faith in God? So if God already told you that you are destined to have this or that, but to be patient, TRUST THAT!
This is where tarot gets dangerous. People will put so much faith into the cards or if the cards give them negative outcomes, they’ll start to receive that and become depressed.
Let me tell you this though, if an advisor is TRUE and Authentic and GENUINE…they will tell you to meditate for yourself. They will remind you that you have FREE WILL. They will tell you that in the end, you already know the answers and what you need to do.
They will NEVER tell you WHAT TO DO. At the end of the day, only you know yourself and the situation or person that you are asking about. If a medium is telling you what you should do, if you feel that they are getting rude, etc., that’s your que to clear that energy and run!
I’ve personally seen a lot more reviews saying that they went against whatever a certain reader told them and they received their blessings. #Discernment So be careful with some of these Apps and Instagram “FREE” readings that promise to give you all the answers that you were looking for. Pray first before you go in.
Even if you send a photo to an advisor, depending on what photo you send them, it won’t always radiate accurate energy if that energy isn’t allowed to be tapped into. This when the discernment comes in. The best way to feel energy is always physical. So a video can radiate more energy on both ends than a photo.
Now most will say, ” I know this is a hard pill to swallow”. LISTEN, use your OWN spirit of discernment as you listen or read on. If the majority of the reading doesn’t sound or feel right and resonates in the wrong way, then the reading is wrong. And it is okay. These people are not meant to connect with everyone that comes to them, especially if you’re not spiritually aligned.
If you put your faith and trust and God and this person that you are trying to seek counsel from references the Universe and not God…then steer clear. You are not going to get the best reading because you are not spiritually aligned with that particular advisor.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.- John 10:10
The enemy is the thief. Have you ever noticed that when you are in your destiny and in your purpose, things start happening out of no where? For example, you have the biggest interview of your life, but your car won’t start to get you to the interview or you get a flat tire, so now you’re late. Or maybe you finally found that person who is meant for you, and we know that all relationships have their challenges, so now the enemy tries to go against God and he places negative thoughts your mind to steal your joy and happiness.
Bottomline: I am not telling you not to or to use spiritual advisors or tarot, but just go into with your own spirit of discernment and with positive energy. Don’t go in angry at the world. You wouldn’t go into your pastor’s office cussing or right after you just cussed someone out. Clear that energy out FIRST. Energy lingers on in a space for awhile.
