What If
What if you listened instead waiting for your turn to speak, do you think this love could ever reach its peak? So ready to fuss and fight, when we should be talking all night about our life’s dreams, do you know what I mean?
What if it didn’t matter whether you were black or white, there’d be the same rules for all, whether you’re wrong or right. If skin color was never mentioned, you having the proper intentions, when we say that black lives matter, would it get your attention?
What if it didn’t take sickness and death, so hard to catch our breath. What if we could truly see the qualities that exist in both you and me, wouldn’t that be something brotha, just makes you sit back and wonder.
What if we could be at peace with peace, life lived longer to say the least, instead of letting misery be our company, maybe we can come together in perfect harmony. God didn’t make no mistakes, we have what it takes…to do right by ourselves and each other, in Christ…we’re all sisters and brothers.
What if we loved ourselves first, what would love like that be worth? Instead of making the same mistakes over and over again, what if we just learned the lesson and then moved on my friend?
What if Rosa never kept her seat or Kap, he never took a knee? What if we did not have to fight for justice and equality? What if Dr. King’s dream could someday come true, would there finally be some peace between me and you?
